I discovered Dolan Creek Farm on Instagram back in December and knew instantly it was a hidden gem! I got in touch with the owner, Jordan McCurrach, and found out that this Salmon Arm farm has been in the family for generations with the post and beam barn being built in 1973, but they just launched it as a wedding venue in the past year. I expressed how I would be thrilled to offer my services to do a styled shoot and collaborate with local vendors to help launch their venue.
I was so excited when Jordan contacted me a few months later for the styled shoot and told me that she brought on the amazing wedding planner, Danielle Steffler, from Champagne & Vows , who coordinated every finishing detail of the décor and coordination with other vendors including Mel from Frosted Tier Cakes in Armstrong who created the unique and modern wedding cake , Janice from Crocus Floral Design in Enderby, who created the epic bouquets and floral garland, the gorgeous gown from Cande Bridal in Kelowna, and the talented Missy Mackintosh for the bride’s makeup and hair. There were also notable contributions from All Occassions Party Rentals in Kelowna, Onyx custom stationary in Kelowna, The Mrs Box, and Bill from Tip Top Tailors in Kelowna for the groom’s dapper suit.
Cale Fraser was brought in as the male model, as a personal contact of Danielle’s and I helped coordinate, Rachelle Snider, a talented model from Déjà vu Model Management. Both took direction so well and were a dream to work with, being willing to explore the far bounds of the property.
One touching element was that Jordan contributed her own antique engagement ring for the bride to wear, which belonged to her husband’s grandmother and was purchased in Montreal in 1930. I also contributed my own custom designed ring for the groom from International Gems in Kelowna.
This beautiful farm estate is at the literal “end of the road,” which makes it sooo private and pristine with outstanding views of Mount Ida and the Fly Hills behind the property. Once I heard that they are building a 2nd ceremony site on the top of these bluffs which can be used for small ceremonies and portraits, I insisted we must visit this location as well since it provides a stunning view of the valley, plus we were blessed with the opportunity to also wander through some alpine meadows on the way. I cannot fully express how this venue is one of a kind and any couple that loves the Canadian outdoors and the farm life should be putting Dolan Creek Farm at the top of their list. The team of vendors including my assistant, Carly Hill, put in such a huge effort on the day of the photoshoot and I would highly recommend every one of the vendors listed above. Enjoy scrolling through a little piece of country!
