We met Emily and Riley back in February up at Silver Star Mountain Resort in Vernon for their engagement session which you can view here. They are fun, easy-going, adventurous, and totally in love. They met at medical school where Riley was Emily’s support group leader and also leader of the outdoor club which Emily attended often; however it wasn’t official until Riley went to a party they were both at dressed up as a Spartan warrior from the movie 300. Love it!
They had their wedding at Emily’s parents private residence where she grew up. It’s a stunning property with beautiful gardens, huge pool, and horses. The most amazing cello music played before and during the ceremony by Emily’s talented musician brother from New York along with a beautiful duet with his girlfriend Annie during the recession. After the garden ceremony they headed to the back for a poolside cocktail party and champagne toast. We can say with all certainty that we have never photographed a wedding with so many doctors in attendance! Not only were tons of their guests doctors, but also their entire wedding party. Needless to say, we felt very safe!
Backing the private residence is a neighbour’s lavender field that was in full bloom. YES!!! We have been wanting to shoot in lavender fields for a long time, so as you can imagine how super excited we were. We absolutely love the images of Emily and Riley amidst the dreaminess of the lavender with the tall dark forest behind them. And then it get’s even better…we went to see the horses! We didn’t hang out with the horses for too long because in all honesty I think they were totally freaked out about Emily’s wedding gown, but we again love the images created in that short amount of time.
Emily and Riley had their reception at The Harvest Golf Club in Kelowna and we hung out with them and their wedding party in the orchard until we all headed back for their entrance. Guests had to get up and share a story about Emily or Riley in order to get them to kiss, so we learned more about how awesome these two are. Emily & Riley – thank you so much for letting us capture the story of your wedding day. You both are truly amazing, compassionate, and beautiful people – we wish you a lifetime of happiness and love!
And just when you thought it was over…one of our favourite moments of the night: Riley showing off his mad dance skills – Ladies and Gentleman, may we present you “The Worm.”
