We met the lovely Jen and Simon (who live in Calgary) over a year ago in Naramata to discuss their upcoming destination wedding which was just in the seedling stage of developing. They LOVE the quiet vineyard town of Naramata and knew they had to get married there (Naramata is our all-time favourite spot in the Okanagan, so I’m sure we did a happy dance when we found this out). Quickly, their wedding started to take roots and fast forward to July 20th, their big day arrived. A month prior to their wedding, we met up with them in Naramata for their super sweet engagement session complete with their adorable son, Noah, which you can view here .
We LOVE an outdoor wedding – is there anything more romantic than dining and dancing under the stars?? The beautiful Apple D’Or Guesthouse set the scene with its elegant rustic architecture and stunning manicured gardens and vineyards. As guests were shuttled to the venue, they gathered on the lawn for Jen and Simon’s ceremony. Jen emerged from the guesthouse and elegantly flowed down the stone staircase to meet her mom and dad before walking down the aisle. We heard guests afterwards exclaim how impressed they were with Jen’s dramatic entrance and how they could have never done it in fear of falling. After their sweet ceremony officiated by a close friend, everyone shared in a champagne toast and nibbled on gourmet appetizers created by the talented Joy Road Catering.
While guests were busy eating and drinking, we snuck off with the newlywed for a quick drive in their vintage convertible and headed down some beautiful country roads to take in the natural desert landscapes of Naramata. Heading back to the reception, guests were treated to an amazing meal set along an elegant long table under a setting sun. As the night darkened vintage light bulbs glowed and guests lingered at seating areas set up by the wonderful Vintage Origami and then danced the night away with the awesome indie band Wild Son.
And just when the night couldn’t get any more magical, guests started lighting Chinese lanterns which took flight into the night sky. We are so unbelievably honoured that we were there to document and be part of this amazing event. Congratulations Jen & Simon – you two blew our socks off with your stunning vintage outdoor wedding!!!
