Jocelyn & Dustin – Rustic Elegance
Outdoor Autumn Wedding at Ponderosa Point Resort in Kaleden, BC

We love photographing weddings in other areas of the Okanagan, so when Jocelyn and Dustin told us their wedding was to be at Ponderosa Point Resort on Skaha Lake in Kaleden, BC we got super excited. Ponderosa Point is just that – a gorgeous point jutting out into Skaha Lake. On this point, homey cabins are cozied in among large towering trees transporting you back to the good ol’ days of endless Summer vacations. Since many guests were from out of town, they were able to stay right on the property in one of the many cabins – how sweet is that? Immediately upon arrival we felt a sense of quiet and calm, as the last details of décor were being finished and guests were enjoying the beautiful autumn day. Jocelyn and Dustin got ready in different cabins on the property and we loved how family and friends would pop by to see how they were doing and offer warm compliments and wishes.

The ceremony took place on a beautiful area with the Skaha lake as the background. We loved Jocelyn and Dustin’s emotions during the ceremony which ranged from heartfelt tears to huge laughter. So sweet and beautiful. After the ceremony we headed down the street to the historic Kaleden hotel originally built in 1912. All that’s left is a beautiful concrete shell worn with patina and the occasional vine clinging to its frame. Can you tell we’re slightly in love with this building? After some fun with the wedding party and a stroll along the lake, we headed back to the reception and as the evening emerged, guests ate, cheered, cried, and danced into the wee hours of the night. The speeches were so heartfelt as well as downright hilarious. At many of the weddings we photograph in the South Okanagan, we have the pleasure of enjoying Joy Road Catering’s phenomenal food which focuses on local and seasonal fare. In fact, one of the chef’s came out and described what everyone was eating, along with informing us all that the meal had come from only 100 miles radius away. Love that!

This was definitely a celebration and along the night there were some fun games including an impromptu puppet performance by Jocelyn and Dustin that was CRAZY funny!!! We have never seen this done at a wedding – everyone was falling over laughing. You’ll see photos below and know why. The bartender, who is a long time friend to Dustin and Jocelyn, was a true rock star and worked hard throughout the night making cocktails and entertaining people with his mad skills. What a night! Jocelyn and Dustin, thank you for letting us be part of your wedding day – we had such such a great time and felt like we were among family and friends. Congratulations and we hope you had an amazing time on your honeymoon in Greece!
