Jody & Gerrie met in in the land of eternal sunshine (Florida) on a big mega yacht they were both working on. Nowadays they live on Salt Spring Island and when Gerrie proposed last Valentine’s Day, they chose beautiful Summerhill Winery for their romantic wintery wedding. They had family come from near and far for their wedding, with Gerrie’s family coming all the way from South Africa (they fully admitted they felt a bit cold up here in good ol’ Canada). We love how they had their ceremony in the pyramid, lit up with hundreds of sparkling candles. The pyramid is pretty impressive and we enjoyed seeing their guest’s jaws drop as they entered the dramatic space. Jody’s dress was spectacular and huge with a full-on 4 foot wide hoop! We loved the way it flowed down the aisle.
After the ceremony, everyone headed outside for a champagne toast after Jody & Gerrie sabered off the tops of some champagne bottles Napoleon style. Despite the cold, Jody & Gerrie, along with their wedding party were total troopers and up for anything. We love that type of commitment! We normally shoot most weddings at Summerhill Winery in the Summer and Fall, but we totally fell in love with the way the winter vineyard looked, with its deep purple grapes and brown vines. What a beautiful winter dreamscape! With the light fading fast after the ceremony, we got to play around with night photography and hey, who doesn’t like sparklers?!?
Jody & Gerrie, we had a great time hanging out with you both and love the images. Congratulations to you guys and much love for the future!
