Mallory & Dave – Elegant & Fun Lakeside Terrace Wedding at The Delta Grand Resort in Kelowna, BC

We first met Mallory and Dave back in June for their engagement session which took place on Mallory’s family homestead in Vernon. Needless to say we were immediately blown away by the beauty of this historical property and how easy going, relaxed, and fun Mallory and Dave are. You can view their engagement session here. On their wedding day, we got to go back to this amazing property along with the wedding party and close family to take more photos!!! YES!!!

But we’re getting ahead of ourselves, let’s start at the beginning of the wedding day when Mallory and Dave got ready at The Delta Grand Resort in downtown Kelowna. The beautiful ceremony took place on the outdoor lakeside terrace at The Delta Grand. After the ceremony, they drove off in Mallory’s Great Grandfather’s restored lumber truck. We loved the addition of the trailing cans and just married sign – so cute. We drove to the nearby mill to get a few lumber inspired photos and switched vehicles before heading off to the homestead in Vernon. Getting to the homestead is only via country roads so we climbed the hills in trucks passing cows along the way. It was really special photographing Mallory, Dave, and their family in such a meaningful location.

Afterwards, we headed back to The Delta Grand where everyone feasted and danced the night away. It was a super fun evening and great ending to a phenomenal day. Congratulations Mallory and Dave!!! We were so honoured to have photographed your wedding. Hope you two are having an amazing time on your European honeymoon!

We love how all of Mallory’s family came up for group photos at the homestead – we couldn’t imagine a more meaningful place to photograph them.

Family on Mallory’s side initiated Dave into his new life via a Scandinavian tradition by cutting the toes off the groom’s socks right after the first dance. Mallory and Dave had no idea this was going to happen so Mallory looked a little freaked out when a group of guys dove on Dave, turned him upside down, ripped his shoes off, and proceeded to cut the tips off his socks. This tradition is to symbolize the change in status from being single to married. We also read that it alludes to the newly married man now having a wife to mend his socks. Whatever it means, it was pretty funny and the first we’ve ever experienced at a wedding.
