When Meredith and Ryan suggested having their engagement session in Canada’s only classified desert, Osoyoos, we were thrilled! For those of you unfamiliar with the Okanagan, this amazing gem of a valley gets hot summers and even hosts a range of exotic and intimidating animals like rattlesnakes, cougars, and black widows. Venturing out on a beautiful June day, we headed to the country with Meredith and Ryan to some of their favourite handpicked areas of the South Okanagan. Normally we’re the ones picking the location, so we were excited about the spontaneity of our little adventure. We’re in love with the resulting images with all their beautiful dreamy colours softened by the sand and pale tones of the sagebrush. At the very end of the shoot, a kind parks person came up and let us know that we should be leaving the exact location we were photographing as it is a rattlesnake breeding ground and they come out at dusk (he also mentioned he was looking for a cougar that had been roaming that area)! Needless to say, we booked it out of there incredibly fast.
Meredith & Ryan, thanks for the crazy fun time! We can’t wait to photograph your upcoming wedding in September at La Punta Norte in Summerland!!!

[…] This was our first time photographing at La Punta Norte in Summerland, BC! Meredith and Ryan definitely picked a stunning location with panoramic Okanagan Lake views and architecture that blends into the natural desert landscape of the area. We loved how they incorporated soft desert tones and succulents into their décor. So pretty and fresh! Even Meredith and Ryan’s engagement session was photographed in the desert, which you can view here. […]
