Sarah and Sean originally contacted us way back in January 2011 regarding their Okanagan wedding in August 2012. We love brides who book us so far in advance! When we received an email last July from Sarah explaining how she was considering Hawaii instead and wanted to know if we would still be her photographers, we replied an enthusiastic “YES!” Fast forward to this August and we found ourselves flying over the blue Pacific on our way to some very beautiful islands in the sea. This was our very first time to Hawaii so we made sure to schedule in some much needed vacation time. Hawaii definitely lived up to our expectations – if we could describe it in one word, it would be paradise. So utterly beautiful.
When Sarah and Sean’s wedding day arrived it was a perfect tropical day. Sarah and her bridesmaids got ready at the beautiful historical Moana Surfrider Resort in Waikiki, while Sean and his Groomsmen got ready at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort. The ceremony took place at the romantic Ocean Crystal Gazebo and Chapel at the Hilton. We loved how Sarah and Sean’s wedding was an intimate celebration with only their closest friends and family. After the ceremony everyone headed over to the Moana Surfrider Hotel for a beautiful outdoor dinner underneath the banyan tree which dates back to the late 1800’s. It’s truly an amazing tree and was selected out of the entire Hawaii state as the Millennium Landmark Tree which protects one significant tree from each state in the United States. As dinner was served, relaxing acoustic Hawaiian music played in the courtyard with traditional hula dancing.
After dinner, Sarah and Sean headed over to the Mai Tai Bar at the Royal Hawaiian Resort for drinks in a private cabana beachside along the Waikiki strip. On the short journey walking down the Waikiki strip to the Royal Hawaiian we weaved through colourful night life and found some…parrots! Ok, that might have been the most random and favourite part of the day. With the waves hitting the sand and Waikiki’s twinkling lights in the distance, Sarah and Sean ended the most perfect day in paradise. Thank you, Sarah & Sean, for letting us capture your romantic Hawaii wedding! Congratulations!!!
