After reading a little bit about Skye’s love of Broadway, costumes, and just about everything from the 1920’s, we were totally inspired to photograph an engagement session that channeled a bit of Great Gatsby fun. Skye and Mark arrived perfectly styled and totally embodied the spirit of the 20’s – you should have seen the awesome dance skills these two have! Also, Mark had some very dapper monogrammed cuffs that gave a nod to the good ol’ days.
Since the winter is not the friendliest time to shoot outdoors (especially in a cute flapper girl dress!), we photographed primarily inside at the beautiful Laurel Packinghouse in downtown Kelowna. With large wide plank heritage wood floors, original brick walls, and architecture dating back to 1917, it was the perfect venue for a 20’s inspired shoot. Fact of the day: the Laurel is the oldest and largest standing packinghouse in British Columbia!
We recently acquired an awesome LOVE marquee sign, so it fit perfectly into the fun atmosphere of the roaring 20’s. We completely adore these images and can’t wait until their wedding on August 16th, 2014. Thanks Syke & Mark for bringing your fun, light-hearted, and madly in-love energy to the photoshoot. See ya in August!!!
